Sustainability

"The definition is very clear: 'Sustainability' means that ecological, economic and social aspects...

... are equally taken into account." We quote here, slightly shortened, the entire foreword to the issue can be found linked as a PDF, from the member magazine of the Halle-Dessau Chamber of Industry and Commerce 07.-08.2023 by the President, Prof. Dr. Keitel and the Chief Executive Officer, Prof.Dr. Brockmeier:

"The widespread narrowing of the concept and term of sustainability to ecological aspects does not go far enough.

...

If the 'triangular balance' is lost, this is either ecologically harmful, socially unjust or economically wasteful.

...

It may be debatable whether the idea of relying entirely on heat generation by heat pumps is ecologically justified, but let's assume that it is.

Even then, this charade - note: the so-called heating law is meant - is still a lesson in what is only supposedly sustainable. Because socially sustainable is certainly not a measure that will lead to real estate investors being scared off in rows.... In any case, the goal of creating more affordable housing for the broader population is becoming a distant prospect.

It also makes complete economic sense to simply destroy our society's capital, which is often invested in very modern, but in any case functioning, existing heating systems, with the stroke of a pen."
